Beautiful copy of brooches in historical style from the Viking Age. According to the classification of archaeologist Jan Petersen, this historical model is called a type P 51 brooch and dates to the 9th century.
These brooches were particularly widespread in Western Norway, but were also found in almost all other areas inhabited by Vikings and make up almost half of all brooches found in the Viking Age.
Unlike the historical model, this replica is greatly reduced in size. High quality genuine bronze.
Dimensions: 5.8 x 4.2 cm. The price is for a pair. So 2 pieces.
During the period 500-1000, the first oval brooches appear in Norway. They were a typical part of Northern European women's costumes and were commonly found in women's graves in the Viking Age, where the design and choice of materials indicate the social status of the women.
The turtle brooch works great with all our apron dresses. It has a strong needle on the back.
